You’ve taken the time to research and write a blog, so you certainly want maximum views from your followers. Many people get frustrated (understandably) when they get very few likes or comments on a social media post.
How can you ensure maximum engagement? “Timing is everything,” as the saying goes.
You may feel compelled to share your post when you’ve finished writing it. You’re excited to get your information “out there” so patients can benefit. But resist that temptation. By timing your posts, you can have a greater impact on your efforts.
Social platforms like Twitter and Facebook consider when a post was published. That doesn’t mean new content always shows up at the top of the news feed — but a newer post can outrank an older post.
And, demographic studies show that each social media channel has an optimal time to reach specific followers.
#1 – Instagram: Weekdays are best to post on Instagram, especially Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Weekends are the worst times to post, and Sundays usually have the lowest engagement. Posting around 11 a.m. works best, but any time from 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. is likely to work well.
#2 – Facebook: Weekdays are best for Facebook — especially Tuesdays and Thursdays, according to Hootsuite. Sprout Social indicates that Mondays through Fridays are ideal for Facebook. Both datasets show that Saturdays and Sundays gets the lowest engagement.
Best times to post on Facebook are between 8 a.m. and noon in your follower’s time zone.
#3: TikTok: These videos must gain traction right away, or they lose value. Tuesdays and Thursdays are best for TikTok; on Tuesdays, post between 2 a.m. and 9 a.m. for optimal engagement. On Thursdays, 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. are your best bet.
TikTok Business Suite — the Analytics tab — will let you see audience activity by day or hour, to help you identify the right times to post content.
#4 – LinkedIn: For this professional social media network, weekdays are the best to post on this channel. Tuesdays through Thursdays are best for posting on LinkedIn. Between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. is optimal; just keep in mind that if your audience lives in multiple time zones, aim for a time between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. in all relevant time zones.
#5 – Twitter: Timing your tweets right is especially important on Twitter Research shows that every day is typically a good day to tweet — except Sunday. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays may provide the most traction in engagement. Since tweets have a short lifespan, post at least once a day.
#6 – YouTube: Unlike other social media channels, YouTube video lifespan is measured in days, not minutes. However, it’s still worthwhile to publish at the right time for your audience. Generally, posting Thursdays and Fridays tend to be good choices.
Upload a couple of hours before viewers usually watch your content. Typically, that means publishing between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays. On weekends, it’s best to post videos between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
