I’d like to share with you my number 1 lesson after running over 103,711,378 (yes 103 million!) adverts to dental patients. I hope this will help you in your own marketing for your dental practice.

Rewind 5 years at our dental laboratory, Somnowell Ltd (, which I founded with my father-in-law Visiting Professor Simon Ash, consultant and specialist Orthodontist. We decided to drive patient demand (for our anti-snoring device) ourselves by advertising directly to patients. We wanted to use digital marketing but had a LOT to learn. After bringing in people like Joel McDonald (author of Google Adwords for Dummies) and doing a masters level training program with Google, we started to get to grips with this digital advertising.

There were mistakes, but we learnt from them and things got better and better. Last year we ran 38 million ads and generated over 25 thousand new patient enquiries at an average cost of under £5 each.

I realised we could do the same for dentists other treatments and last year I also set up a done-for-you digital marketing service ( for dental practices to get more patients for ALL their other treatments. Last month for one of our clients we generated 67 new patient enquiries from Google and more from Facebook.

For example the new patient enquiries for braces were £6.92 each, and the new patient enquiries for teeth whitening were £2.67 each, and for implants £10.04 each.

So what is the NUMBER ONE lesson I have learnt from all of this?

Well it is in two parts actually. TRACK EVERYTHING and ALWAYS FOLLOW-UP.

Every advert has to be trackable so that when a new patient enquiry is generated we know exactly what is working and what is not working. This means we can spend more on the things that are working.

Then when that enquiry is generated, or if someone just clicks on an advert, you have to keep marketing to them via email and remarketing adverts. The reason is that most people are not at the buying stage and are in research or comparison stages. Some people will book appointments immediately, but many won’t. However, if you keep in touch with the rest, and educate them along the way, then when they are ready some more will book appointments with you.

So why am I telling you all of this?

Next week I am ready to OPEN THE DOORS AGAIN at Somnowell Marketing for dentists that want to get more patients for any of their desired treatments, such as orthodontics, implants, teeth whitening, nervous patients, etc.

Tomorrow we will be launching nationally and demand will be very high. We will be contacting dental practices in every area, and we can only work with one per area.
